Paid software versus free
Generally speaking free applications are quite good. Sometimes though they come with limitations. In the case of free online web site builders
there are problems with external advertising links all over you page.
Almost all free online website builders require hosting to get any real benefit with perhaps the exeption of squidoo, Google pages, hub
pages, vox and Blogger. These special online applications allow users to create pages for websites and have a fair degree of flexibility and
in some cases revenue sharing ability.
The main problem with them is the lack of control of the domain name. This means that you could lose your site at any time. My friend lost his
site for six weeks recently when his vox blog went down without notice and there was nothing he could do about it.
These sites are good for generating in-bound links to your site but not much else. When visitors go there they often get sidetracked and land
on other links and visit other pages within the community.
The best option by FAR is to keep control and focus and land people on a domain that you own. Once you have your own domain name you build a site and load it to your hosting account. (This comes free with
wealthy affiliate). Then you have all you need.
